Please read that like the classic phrase “Beam me up scotty!” lest the silly tone of my blog be missed. Today my lovely wife treated us to a massage. Not a couples massage, but two separate massages. It was my first ever legitimate massage.

My reflections are to follow?

Assault? Having a random stranger oil up my back, shove their elbow in it repeatedly and following up with high speed punches would normally be grounds for an assault charge. In this case however I said “Thanks” and we paid him.

Comfort Zone? I’ve never been to touchy with strangers. Sure I would describe myself as a hugger, but my hugs don’t linger, unless your my wife. I was told to relax but having someone oil me up and maintain contact makes it hard to do so. I don’t think think it matters who does it, if it’s not Bethany, my body may be relaxed but all I’m thinking is “happy place, happy place, happy place.” I don’t know how people do this regularly.

What’s with the music? I find that a good acoustic indie CD perhaps some Iron and Wine or Sufjan Stevens could have the same effect. What’s with the celtic / asian / fantasy music? I don’t want to imagine a dragon in a kimono.

Repeat offender? So the question remains, will I do this again? Yeah probably. I won’t lie, it was super weird, but the benefits were obvious. My neck is still a little sore but my shoulders which received the brunt of the attention in my quick 20 minute session feel fantastic. I think I’ll try to do this semi regularly. Thanks Groupon for all the cheap massage deals.

That’s all for now…
Bryce

Lol. Now if anyone wants to get you a gift they can go with paintball or a movie. 🙂 No Massage Envy. Though, if you want to save, google “giftcardgranny” a link to buy and sell gift cards and you can find gift cards for just about anywhere at good prices.
