Every once and awhile I will ask people for marriage tips. Not necessarily for myself, not that I can’t use them, but I’m interested what tips they would give to younger married couples. I often am talking to Christian couples so I get things like: Pray together, Play together, Laugh together, Stay Humble, make sure to do daily devotionals etc. All these are great, I would say foundational, much more important then my typical advice. If I’m not asked a question about a specific marriage related situation my advice… make family videos. Going on vacation? Film It! Love your new puppy? Film it! Got a new baby? Film it! It makes sense possibly that I would suggest this being that I’m a tech nerd and am very interested in film, but honestly I do it to plan for the future. I want my future kids to be able to look back at who their mom and dad were and get a sense of what their life was together. I want, when my memory is fading, to go back and watch videos of me and my lovely bride and remember what it was like to be there that day and revel in how far we’ve come. Sure, it’s not deep and spiritual, but I think it’s good. Truth is, with all computers coming with at least generic video editing software it’s very doable and often fun.

It also makes a good gift if you happen to go on vacation with some friends. Do they have a birthday

Just make sure if you’re going to ask others to watch it… make it fun. Home videos aren’t typically fun to watch if it’s not your home. Maybe I’m just cynical.
