I can’t believe we’re already at 20 weeks! Halfway there! So crazy! Can you tell I’m excited?!? Twenty weeks is the time when most people, if they want to, find out the sex of their baby. Yes we did it at sixteen weeks, but we were concerned. There was such a small window where the indicators were visible and despite the tech being “pretty certain” it was a girl, we didn’t want to get our hopes up to much. I mean, we did give her a name, buy her clothes and tell all our close friends, but trust me, our hopes were not up at all. Because in the end “something” could have popped up and everything would have changed.
I don’t want to say I’d be disappointed if it was a boy… So I won’t…
The twenty week ultrasound is much more extensive than all the previous ones. They check for any malformations or signs of any disease, etc. This is the visit where don’t want them to say “one moment” and leave the room briefly. Luckily, our little baby seems to be happy and healthy with a nice helping of weird. Her position was incredibly “unusual” according to our tech. With her head facing down towards the pelvis her body went upwards and shot to the left while twisting, like a distorted Tetris L. This explains why most of the kicking is happening on the left side of Bethany’s belly.
As before “her” legs were crossed making gender identification incredibly difficult.
Don’t make me come back here again baby… She didn’t
Despite her cirque du soleil positioning, the tech was able to angle the ultrasound whoosy-whatsit to get a clear picture of her “hoo-hoo” as Dr. Elliot from Scrubs puts it and we confirmed the initial findings. Woohooo, I’m having a daughter! I can’t wait to spoil the heck out of this girl. She is going to have me wrapped around her little finger. Don’t worry… I’ll put up boundaries… I know children need boundaries. But that doesn’t mean I have to like enforcing them. Either way we’re very excited and it’s time confirm to the world we’re having a daughter!
Introducing OFFICIALLY Adah (Ay-Duh) Ramiah (Ruh-My-Uh) Cooley which means “From The Beautiful Scenary God is Exalted.”
We totally planned that.
